The Capitol Theatre is cracking open its long history book and sharing a new line of limited edition merch in honor Janis Jopin’s Aug. 8, 1970 performance at the Port Chester, NY venue.
Designed by Alessio Vitelli from Rome, the hand numbered posters are available in multiple variants, as are shirts in both men’s and women’s styles.
The 8/8/70 show is known as the evening Joplin debuted her hit “Mercedes Benz,” which she wrote just a few hours earlier, down the street from The Cap at a local watering hole.
Joplin died on October 4, 1970, just a few weeks after this legendary performance.
